NIGERIA – Boko Haram Deadline for Leah Sharibu a Week Away

Leah Sharibu and two aid workers from the International Committee of the Red Cross are a week away from being killed by Boko Haram if the government does not rescue them. On September 16, Boko Haram sent a message to the Nigerian Government that they had just killed an aid worker named Saifura Khorsa who had been captive since March of this year.

They said that they killed her because the government had not given into their demands. Saifura is one of the very rare cases in which Boko Haram has killed an Islamic female that they had kidnapped. They released the other 104 Dapchi Girls, besides five who were killed during transport, because they were Muslims.
