Boko Haram’s second faction, under the leadership of al-Barnawi, has killed a second commander in roughly a month. They reportedly killed Mamman Nur, one of their top leaders, on August 21. He supposedly had disputes with his lieutenants. Since his death, this faction has become more violent and is targeting more desperate targets.
They have now also killed another commander, Ali Gaga, who was loyal to Mamman Nur. It is being reported that Gaga was working with certain Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) to surrender and release nearly 300 captives.
