The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has withdrawn the invitation issued to the governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, following protests from some lawyers.
The NBA said this in a tweet on Thursday via its Twitter handle @NigBarAssoc.
In an earlier tweet, the Nigerian Bar Association explained that the ongoing virtual NEC meeting of the NBA is the customary Pre-AGC NEC meeting and it will be the last of the Paul Usoro, SAN-led NBA administration.
“With participants from all of our 125 branches, the NEC is the highest decision making organ of the NBA after the AGM,” the tweet reads.
El-Rufai was invited to speak at the NBA virtual conference which holds from August 24-26, 2020.
Others expected to speak at the event include former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, Governor Wike of Rivers State and a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.
