Last November, a church and a Christian bookshop was closed by authorities in the Algerian city of Ain Turk. The church was reopened this past June, but the bookstore remained closed. On December 14, 2018, the Governor’s decision to close the bookstore was cancelled by the courts.
Originally, a closure order was issued against the bookstore based on the allegation that the tenant, who was the church’s pastor, was illegally printing Bibles and evangelistic brochures.
